ABOUT CPC

Character Plus Consulting is the premier character analytics research and reporting service used by front office executives.

Tailored to your team's goals and values, our reports assess a player’s personal and football character and determine organizational fit. Based on our quantitative grading system, our data can inform draft-night decisions, highlight concerns you need to be aware of before the draft, map out a plan to ensure a player's success after the draft. Research offerings include:

  • Pre-draft assessments designed to identify potential off-field issues and locker room fit

  • Social media breakdowns to further assess a player's character and determine if scrubbing will be necessary if drafted

  • Individualized and psychologically-based, post-draft suggestions outlining players’ paths to success, both on and off the field

Reports incorporate all available information while attempting to explain past behavior and character traits, and assess future potential as a player.

OUR FOUNDER

Meghan O'Donnell, Founder and CEO

Meghan O'Donnell is a sports analytics and communications professional with experience working for ESPN's Statistics and Information Group, College GameDay, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Fueled by her passion for research and a desire to shine a light on the intangibles teams look for in the draft process, she launched Character Plus Consulting in 2022 as a way to bring character analytics to the forefront of pre-draft evaluations.

From East Fallowfield, Pennsylvania, Meghan attended the University of Delaware, earning degrees in sport management (B.S.) and mass communications (B.A.).

After interning with the Stats and Info Group (SIG) during the summer before her senior year and traveling as a digital content producer for ESPN's College GameDay that fall, Meghan earned a full-time position and returned to SIG as a production researcher after graduation. In that role, she conceptualized and produced original, statistical-driven content designed to provide context to the biggest storylines in sports media. Specializing in college football, she served as the on-site researcher for the 2018 National Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia. While with ESPN, Meghan obtained her master's degree in sport business with Drexel University and completed her thesis, "Breaking up is hard to do: Why the Power 5 should consider splitting from the rest of the FBS and the ramifications of such a divide".

In her most recent role as a player personnel analyst with the Philadelphia Eagles, Meghan helped develop a new segment of player research focused on character analytics. Responsible for research and data collection on college players and free agents, she wrote detailed and comprehensive behavioral reports designed to evaluate football and personal character, while helping create a quantifiable player grading system used to rank draft prospects. In addition to her draft board-shaping analytics reports, she also conducted complete social media assessments and interviewed players during Top 30 visits.

An adjunct professor at Widener University, Meghan teaches Event Planning and Sport Marketing. In addition to her work with students, she looks to mentor young  professionals in the industry, both formally through the University of Delaware's Mentor Collective, and through her own personal contacts.
